This prescription drug (sold under the brand names Prinivil®, Qbrelis®, Zestril® and Zestoretic®) treats high blood pressure. We also use it to treat heart failure and heart attack. Lisinopril belongs to a class of drugs we call "ACE inhibitors."
How does it work? Lisinopril comes as a pill or a liquid you take by mouth. Usually, you take it once a day. This drug lowers the level of certain chemicals that tighten your blood vessels. It keeps your blood vessels open, helping your blood flow more smoothly and your heart pump more efficiently.
