Many people have trouble getting eye drops into their eyes. It can be kind of tricky. But with some practice, it isn't really hard to do. Let's learn how.
Before you begin, read the instructions. Know how many drops to apply, and how often to apply them. Do you need to use them at a certain time of day? Do you need to shake the drops before putting them into your eye? And do you need to remove contact lenses before applying them? Follow these instructions to make sure you get the best result.
Next, wash your hands. Then, shake your eyedrops (if necessary), and remove the cap. Don't touch the dropper's tip.
Now, tilt your head back and look up. If it helps, focus on a spot on the ceiling. Pull your lower eyelid down to form a pocket. Lift the bottle over this pocket and gently squeeze to let the drop fall into the pocket. Don't let the bottle touch your eye or your eyelid as you do this, because that can let germs get into your eye. Finally, close your eye for a few minutes as the drops are absorbed.
If you've followed this guide and you're still having trouble, talk to your doctor about other ways to apply your eyedrops.
